Significant Positive; A perfect heist.

Iris has made a few grand thefts before, and now she's refined it perfectly. She glances at the clock to make sure she has time, and goes over the plan in her head again...

Three days ago, she sent an advance notice in her usual flowery speech- 'The beauty of the great diamond is tainted by the foul deeds of its owner, so the great thief ----- will rescue it from Hawthorne's dirty hands'. She is pretty proud of that one, and she flicks on the TV to see what's going on as she prepares. As expected, the news is already covering it. The time given on her notice was still hours away, but reporters were already crowding the area, talking about her past thefts. In the aftermath of her thefts, they claimed, three corporations had been ruined and declared bankruptcy, and several arrests had been made of their officials, in a simple pattern: Media hounds the victims, and discover some unpleasant things, which prompt full police investigations. There have been several attempted cover-ups, the news says, but so far the truth seems desperate to get out.

Iris feels some intense pride at that. Proud and spiteful, happy to have ruined the lives of those in charge of those places... It's a rush she can't get enough of. And a certainty they deserved it, and far worse. And now it's Hawthorne's turn.

She prepares her tools- mostly simple things like lockpicks and glass cutters, along with USB memory sticks and a special device to bypass basic computer security, all placed in small pouches built into her suit- and her suit, she had decided, was her masterstroke of disguise. A white catsuit with a cowl attached, but out from the neck of the cowl, she had affixed... shorter brown hair, making it look perfectly like it was the owner's hair out from under it. Combined with a second suit that was a fair bit too large for her, and actually did have a hole in the beck for hair, her plan was set.

Getting in the building was easy, with her magic. A gigantic flash in the middle of the crowd, blinding everyone, allowing her to take her place in the center, bending the light to make her appear taller than she is. Spotlights, she is sure to direct them onto herself from the direction of the roofs, to make it look like she has accomplices. Some taunts to the police, implying they're all nothing but paid stooges for people like Hawthorne, and she laughs. The police draw their guns to aim, but Iris simply smiles, and starts her illusions- She leaves an illusion of herself behind, still making kissy faces at the police, while she invisibly moves through the crowd- any bumps from an invisible source are just attributed to the crowd's jostling, and she makes it through easily. Then, with a wave, her illusion copy splits in two. Then, they split again as they start walking around, and soon, a full dozen of her are taunting the police in unison- before blinking out of existence, leaving a single one scaling the wall with a rope, and entering through a window.

The real Iris, of course, had made it inside during the splitting clones diversion, from the ground floor. And while the security and the media all went to secure the diamond, Iris goes after her real objective- Going for the offices through the emergency stairs. While the police were busy in a lounge room where the diamond was displayed, she sneaks into the CEO's office with minimal fuss, hooks her USB gadgets up to Hawthorne's computer, quickly copying out all of his mails, budget paperwork, and the like. Of course, on his personal computer, even a cursory glance at his files show he was at the very least guilty of embezzlement, and there were a couple other suspicious numbers, but those could wait. The data secure on her thumb drive, she sneaks out again, this time going for her other objective- That diamond.

The diamond is even easier- Stealing is almost too easy when you can control what your adversaries see. She nearly laughs, but that would be a giveaway, since she can't control sound. Still, a crowd of guards on the outside, and a laser trap on the inside? Really, she is being underestimated. Or, she considers, they still didn't realize she was a light mage. Were illusions that rare a skill? Didn't matter, she figures, all the better for her. With a pull on the light, the lasers all trigger alarms at once, causing a deafening cacophony, and the police's ranks break into chaos as they search for her, unable to figure out where she is... Well, it was cute of them to try so hard.

She jumps off the police's backs, using them as stepping stones, and pushing them into each other. The diamond is displayed on a pedestal, without even a glass cage around it... Really, how arrogant can you get? Did Hawthorne really think that would be enough to stop her? She feels almost insulted as she swipes the diamond and then escapes out a window.

She hides under the windowsill, projecting an illusion of herself flying away- the police blindly fire bullets after the illusion- before causing another flash, and dismissing the illusion. Then, keeping herself hidden in a pocket of darkness, she simply scales the building, dropping down next to where she had stored her second costume, and her spare change of clothes, in an inconspicuous duffel bag before.

Changing quickly, she makes her way over to where her last flash had gone off- the detectives would be there to investigate soon, so she has to hurry- But not so much she can’t take a detour through the media crowd, find a reporter who isn’t currently on the camera, and drop the USB stick with the stolen information in their pocket. She has a second, smaller bag inside her first, which the decoy costume was stored in. She leaves that inside an old, empty trash can, stuck with a few others, and then makes sure to make a loud clattering noise as she does so, before running away.

She makes it home with no trouble at all, and switches on the news again. It reports her heist was successful- But the police detectives made immense headway, as their speed in chasing the serial thief ----- had cornered her enough that they were able to recover the distinctive costume she used…

It was an easy trick, and an easy heist. She giggles to herself, admiring the diamond she took- It was actually pretty nice. Maybe instead of selling it, she’d keep just this one as a memento of her first perfect theft. The media had the information about Hawthorne’s embezzlement, the police had determined she was someone with a completely different build, and were hunting down nonexistent accomplices… It was a good time.

NOTES:

----- is the name of her phantom thief identity, and she recognizes it as hers, but the name is blurred out.
There is a dim awareness that the Hawthorne she is stealing from is actually a relative of hers- Some distant uncle, however many times removed. She doesn't care, though- She is just aware he is an arrogant asshole, hence the underplanning he shows in this memory.
The diamond in the memory is the same one she showed up with in Kyr.
Iris does not have nearly this level of skill with her illusions in Kyr.
Her home, also, is in an area that looks somewhat like this, she lives in an apartment on the top floor.
